This year we headed out to spend Thanksgiving week in Utah with all of Jim's family, and it was so much fun! Jocelyn loved playing inside or out with her cousins, and she absolutely LOVED her baby cousin Domanic! She even warmed up to Grandpa's blue horse! (Not sure why, but for some reason she just started calling him the blue horse even though he's black!) We were kinda worried with her being around all the boys and getting picked on, but after watching her and Eli wrestling the first night, we found out that we had no reason what-so-ever to be worried! She handled her own very well, and all she had to do when she was in a bind was to shower her cousins in hugs and kisses to make them cry!
One night we had a family Iron Chef cook off challenge! It was Jim and I against Jacove and Leif, and Angie and Sean, and the mystery ingrediant was organes. So each team had 2 hours to come up with/find recipes, and had to cook an appetizer, entree and dessert that all inculded oranges! It's amazing how time flies when your cooking, but we mangaged to get all of our food plated right before the time ended! We made an orange vinegarette salad for our appetizer, orange citrus burgers with a tangy orange salsa for our entree, and orange drop cookies with sweet orange cream cheese frosting for our dessert. Grandpa, Grandma, Zana, Christine, and Noah were the judges. They chose winners for the top entree, top appetizer, top dessert, and top overall. The Chapmans won top appetizer, the Snapp-Cooks won top entree, we won top dessert, and the Chapmans won overall! We all decided that this will be a new family tradition we'll be having our 2nd annual family iron chef next year!
We all had fun spending time with family and were both sad and happy to have to go. Jocelyn was also very happy to go, but when we actually got home she was very sad and mad that we weren't back at Grandma's house! We can't wait til next year to see everyone again!
