2013 MA Concours d'Elegance

Thursday, August 29, 2013

We're very happy to say that we were able to make it to the annual Concours event put on by the Morgan Adams Foundation this year!  We couldn't make it last year because it happened to land on the same day/time we had planned for Jocelyn's birthday.  Anyway, it was great to be able to go again. =0)

We told Jocelyn about the plane show and she was very excited, and couldn't wait for it to start (it was delayed because of the rain), but then once it started she wanted it to stop because it was too loud! lol  She did have a lot of fun walking around and looking at all the planes and cars though.  Her favorite was the yellow helicopter, the shark plane, and the little "Jocelyn"car (which somehow I missed getting a picture of).  And I don't think she'll tell you if you ask, but I'd say she enjoyed the music by the live band because she was getting her dance moves on while she ate her ice cream!  =0)

It was sure a long night, but it was a find night out with the family, and we can't wait to go again next year!

Baby Bath Time!

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

I finally got some fun pictures of Nolan taking a bath last week, now that he's sitting up on his own.  He sure does love his bath!  =0)  Sure do love my Handsome boy!

Jocelyn's Big Week

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

In other big news, Jocelyn had a big week last week!  She had her first day of school AND celebrated her 4th birthday!

Last Tuesday was her first day back to school and she was very excited!  She has the same teachers, who are amazing by the way, and she goes Tues-Fri from 9-12.  She's still accepting the fact that even though she has the same teachers, all the students aren't the same but I keep telling her she will make new friends!

Since her birthday was on Wednesday, I took a special snack (yogurt dipped strawberries) to share with everyone.  And she got to make her own special birthday crown in class to wear all day and bring home with her.  She thought that was pretty cool. =0)

Then later after school we took her on a family trip to the Museum of Natural History, which ended up be a bittersweet experience for her to say the least.  lol  Our first stop was the discovery kid zone, which she had a blast at, then we tried to go watch a presentation at the planetarium which was a complete disaster!  She absolutely hated it... we got to watch maybe 30 seconds of it before she threw a huge tantrum and we needed to leave.  All she wanted to do was go home!  I was finally able to talk her into going to look at the gems and minerals, and we did a "scavenger hunt" to look for all the pink rocks we could find.  Then after that she was excited when we found an exhibit about different animals from around the world!  Our mission was to find the zebras!  She loved running around to look at all the animals, and since she was very happy doing that, we just decided to skip going to the IMAX even though we already had gotten our tickets.  I think we'll wait and do that when she's a little older!  We did also see the dinosaurs, but she wasn't as excited about that so I didn't take too may pictures.  =0)

I'd say overall she had a great week and a great birthday!

Our new Basement!

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

Some of you may know already, but this summer we've met with a realtor and have been working on some finishing touches in our house to try and get it ready to put on the market in September!  We've been in our town home for almost 7 years, and while it's bee a great 1st home, we are ready to move on to bigger and better things... and would love a yard for the kids and dog to run around it.

When we bought the house it was in poor condition and we pretty much ripped EVERYTHING out and started from scratch to make it livable. So anyway, our biggest project to work on has been our basement and until recently has been a large "unfinished" storage room.

And now we're happy to say that we officially have a basement!  We did a lot of prepping, cleaning, and painting, and even had carpet installed.  It looks amazing!  And I'm so bummed because I can't find a before picture anywhere!  I would love to show you the transformation from unfinished to finished, but for now you'll just have to trust me that it was in pretty bad shape!

Anyway, we've moved our tv & couch down there, and also created a new play area for the kiddos (which they both love... When Jocelyn came down and say the new area, she started running around screaming, "Oh my goodness.. I love it, I love it, I love!") lol.  We absolutely love it and are just bummed we didn't do it years ago!

These pictures are before Jim put of the baseboards, and before we moved furniture down there.
I will have to take some soon!

We're back!

Monday, August 26, 2013

Wow!  I'm kind of in shock that the last time I posted was almost a year ago!  Obviously I was busy being pregnant, having a baby, and got swept up in the tumbleweed of life.  =0)

Well, I''m happy to say that we're back!  I would like to say that I will be catching up on everything that's happened since my last post, and I will update on the most recent happenings, but I'd rather focus on the present and the future!

To start off, I've updated Jocelyn's page and added a page just for Nolan!  I've also added a "family photo" page where I'm planning on adding a couple photo collages of our family photo shoot/Nolan's 6 month photos in June.

I can honestly say I've missed blogging, so hopefully I will get back into it and keep everyone updated more often!  =0)

36 Weeks!

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Oh boy did the past week go by fast!

We don't have an appointment this week, but we/I did go to two classes today!  First Jim, Jocelyn and I attended our Midwife Chat, where the midwives went over final paperwork and other things that we need to finish/get ready.  It was pretty boring, and was 2 hours long, but at least Joelyn did surprisingly well!  After the class we got several compliments on how well behaved she was.  =0)

After that class was over, I attended a "Baby Wearing" class while Jim and Jocelyn went on an adventure to Walmart for some Daddy/daughter time.  I really enjoyed the class and wish I had taken one befre having Jocelyn.  I tried "wearing" her in a both a wrap and sling, but never felt comfortable.  It turns out I was doing it wrong!  Now I'm super excited to "wear" Baby Nolan when we go out, because it will make me feel better knowing for sure if he is too cold or too hot with the upcoming cold weather (hopefully)!

Other than that, nothing new really update for the past week, we're just super anxious to hit the "full-term" mark!  It's getting very real!

How Our Baby Boy is Growing (From BabyCenter.com):Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. He's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected his skin during his nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of his first bowel movement.

35 Weeks!

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

This past week I've been feeling pretty good, just tired! I've been getting up more to use the bathroom more in the middle of the night and my sides are starting to ache! How I miss sleeping on my back and belly! =0) I'm feeling much like a pnacake flipping from one side to the other. lol   My heartburn has seemed to calm down which is good. So all-in-all I'm good and getting very excited!  Only 2 more weeks until we'll be considered full-term, and only 5 weeks until our due date!

We have our Midwife Chat this Thursday, then our next appointment (technically our 36week, but will be during our 37th week), is on Wednesday, November 28th!

How Our Baby Boy is Growing (From BabyCenter.com):
Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
